Cogito Ergo Sum
Inspired by the film Bladerunner, the title means "I
think, therefore I am". It is an attempt to capture the feelings of
Rachel, as she discovers she is a replicant, and not a human as she believed.
Is it me you love, is that one thing that's real?
How do I know if I can trust what I feel?
Give me something to hold onto, something true.
I've nothing to believe in; can I believe in you?
Memories are images they've planted in my head.
I'm nothing but the shadow of a girl I've never met.
If I'm not really me does it matter if you lie?
And is there any point in asking why?
Is it me you love, is that one thing that's real?
How do I know if I can trust what I feel?
Give me something to hold onto, something true.
I've nothing to believe in; can I believe in you?
I remember every year, each minute of each day.
If truth is an illusion does it matter what I say?
What am I to live by if my past is just a lie?
And who is there to mourn me when I die?
Is it me you love, is that one thing that's real?
How do I know if I can trust what I feel?
Give me something to hold onto, something true.
I've nothing to believe in; can I believe in you?
